Sanitation: Greatest Longevity Booster

The British Medical Journal recently held a survey on the greatest medical advance of all time. The winner: Sanitation. Simple improvements in hygiene and sanitation since 1840 was voted the winner by 15% of the 11,000 votes. Improvements in sanitation ave made many infectious diseases disappear and that has contibuted greatly to longer life expectancy.
