The US just released life expectancy figures showing that the US is in 42nd place when it comes to life expectancy, below countries such as Japan, Singapore and Jordan (and most of Europe).
The causes for this drop (from 11th place 20 years ago) is due in part to the high cost of health insurance (leaving many Americans without medical care) and the increasing rates of obesity and other lifestyle problems.
Right now in the US, over 45 million people have no health insurance and approximately 30% of adults are obses (BMI>30).
In other words, we are an unhealthy people.
Another problem in the US is the disparity in life expectancy by race. Whites, in the US, have a life expectancy of 77.9 years compared with 73.3 for African Americans (and only 69.8 for African American males).
The good news is that individual Americans have a wide range of options and choices to increase their own life expectancy. Consider some of these options:
Add 2 servings of Fruits and Vegetables | Exercise and Have Fun | Think Positive
