Happy 114th to Edna Parker, World's Oldest Person
Friday August 24, 2007
On August 17th, Edna Parker (of Indiana, USA) celebrated her 114th birthday. She became the world's oldest person just a few days before when Yone Mnagawa of Japan died.
Edna Parker was born on April 20th, 1893. She was a school teacher until she married Earl Parker. After her marriage, she lived on farm and took charge of the household tasks of feeding and looking after her family, the workers and other farm tasks.
What is her secret to longevity? She has never drunk alcohol or used tobacco.
Edna Parker is one of 76 confirmed supercentenarians living in the world (according to the Gerontology Research Group).
