Hormones for a Long Life

Monday October 22, 2007
Can hormones increase your longevity? Probably not. Can they make reduce the effects of aging? Sometimes. Unfortunately there is no simple answer to the role of hormones in aging. Sure, hormones change as we get older, but whether these shifts are a cause of aging remains hotly debated.

You'll find thousands of "anti-aging" doctors selling expensive hormone injections. So far, there has been little research to support the claims of most hormone supplements. For women, estrogen supplementation can help menopause-related symptoms, but even that has become complicated.

You're best bet? For now, keep an eye on the research and talk to a doctor (one who is not selling anything) before using hormone supplements.
