Glaxo Buys Red Wine Company

Remember all the good press red wine was getting a while back. There was a lot of research on a chemical called resveratrol that is linked to anti-aging. Dr. David Sinclair was a leader in that research which gave rats a daily dose of resveratrol equivalent to drinking over 1000 bottles of red wine a day. The rats aged better and lived longer. Dr. Sinclair started a company called Sirtris that is developing a drug that mimics the red wine/resveratrol benefit by activing enzymes called situins. Glaxo, a major pharmaceutical company purchased Sirtris for $720 million. Early trials of the drug have shown benefit against diabetes. Read More on Red Wine's Health Benefits
