A Tribute to Dr. Robert Butler

From Mark Stibich, Ph.D., About.com Guide   July 12, 2010

It has been said that Dr. Robert Butler has done more for older people in America than anyone else. In many ways, he brought the idea to light that turning 70 (or 80 for that matter) did not mean that it was time to sit down and wait for death.

Dr. Butler fought against "ageism" (a term he coined) that came from other people, as well as devoting his life to convincing older people to keep going, keep doing, keep living.

Dr. Butler died on July 4th of acute leukemia at the age of 83. Dr. Butler's many achievements are touched on in this piece: A Last Conversation WIth Dr. Robert Butler. Make sure you read the comments at the end (and add your own tribute).

Sit down and wait for death for old aged peoples is not suit for them and keep doing and having many friends make them young and live longer.Do something for the other peoples to be healthy or writing articles how to stay live longer without suffering chronic disease.Doing everyday routine work or light duty for the seniors is the best for their life. Please don`t stop doing the reduce their light duty for them. It`ll make their life sudden change and risk.My friend who was announced her mother for stopping the daily routine work of shopping.Later her mother had stressed and more high blood pressure and died.Let all the seniors making friends with their own ages and walking is the best exercise for them.
