Definition:

Thiazides are diuretic drugs that not only help control your blood pressure, but they also reduce your risk of stroke, heart attack and heart failure. Thiazides reduce the amount of calcium in your urine, which means less chance of a kidney stone and more calcium in your body to prevent osteoporosis. Common names of thiazides include: Lozol, Aquatensen, Enduron, Renese, Diuril, Naturetin, and Mykrox.
