The Bottom Line
The RealAge Makeover by Michael Roizen, MD, revamps the original RealAge book. This book includes an extensive RealAge self-test along with hundreds of pieces of information and advice. The book lacks an easy-to-follow program and focuses on supplements a great deal. There is good information in this RealAge book, but you need to weed through marketing hype to find it.

Guide Review - The RealAge Makeover
The RealAge Makeover is an updated version of the RealAge concept, which was pioneered by Michael Roizen, MD. The RealAge approach involves taking a self-test which either "subtracts" or "adds" years to your life, based on your answer to certain questions. Supposedly, these genetic and lifestyle factors can change your life expectancy.

In putting together his RealAge books, Roizen claims to have reviewed and compiled tens of thousands of research studies to determine how individual factors influence aging. The simple fact is that no one can know how hundreds of factors interact with each other to produce aging. The RealAge test simply estimates the impact of lifestyle and other factors on aging.

The RealAge test does give a good sense of the impact of certain behaviors on your aging, and can help you prioritize your efforts. The book itself is loaded with hundreds of pieces of information and tips. If you make even a few of the changes in this book, you will be better off. A note of warning: the RealAge books offer many suggestions about supplements – you should always discuss these with your doctor before taking them. Better yet, eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables and you will get an even better effect.
