Compared to ages 15-24 and 25-44, this age group has much more mortality caused by lifestyle and other preventable factors. We see here the effects of poor eating choices, excess weight, alcohol, and smoking. Overall, people in this age group have a 0.6% chance of dying per year.

1. Cancer

  • % of Deaths: 33
  • Prevention Methods: Reduce your risk through regular screenings, healthy exercise, and a good diet.

2. Heart Disease

  • % of Deaths: 23
  • Prevention Methods: Maintain and healthy lifestyle and het regular heart check-ups.

3. Accidents

  • % of Deaths: 6 (motor vehicle accidents: 2%)
  • Prevention Methods: Drive defensively, wear a seat belt and don't take risks.

4. Diabetes

  • % of Deaths: 4
  • Prevention Methods: Reduce your risk through controlling your blood sugar, following a healthy and appropriate diet, exercising, and eating well.

5. Stroke

  • % of Deaths: 4
  • Prevention Methods: Maintain a healthy lifestyle through exercise and a proper diet.

6. Chronic lower respiratory diseases

  • % of Deaths: 3
  • Prevention Methods: Reduce your risk by not smoking or quitting smoking.

7. Chronic liver disease and cirrhosis

  • % of Deaths: 2
  • Prevention Methods: Avoid these conditions by limiting alcohol consumption.

8. Suicide

9. Kidney Disease

10. Septicemia
