Brain fitness and TV don't often go well together. Sure, there are some shows that are interesting and educational, but let's face it, most shows aren't. The average American is watching more than 4 hours of TV a day; time that could be used to develop a language, learn a skill, socialize with people or just read a book (remember books?). All those things are great for brain fitness.

The problem isn't television itself, but the amount of time we dedicate to it. The average world class musician probably doesn't practice 4 hours a day. If we could take that time and redirect it, we could develop new skills and learn new things. New skills and learning are the best things for brain fitness.

If you are concerned about brain fitness, dementia and Alzheimer's disease; consider turning off the TV and engaging in the world around you. That type of engagement is exactly what the brain is good at and what help brain fitness the most.
