Brain fitness can be greatly increased through mediation. Think of mediation not as a relaxation technique, but as a brain workout. When you are mediating, you are, in essence, studying how the brain works. You follow your thoughts, learn to let them go, begin to understand how thoughts and feelings emerge and learn a huge amount about how your brain works.

People who meditate regularly talk about how each session is different and how they are always learning something about their brain and emotions. This constant learning is fantastic for brain fitness. Not only that, but meditation does reduce stress and stress can get in the way of both learning and brain health.

There are many ways to meditate, but the ones that have you training your brain to focus and learn about how thoughts and feelings come about may be best for brain fitness. Of course, the best meditation program is the one you do. Start simple and build your skills before taking on too much.
