Homocysteine and Longevity

Definition: Homocysteine is an amino acid that is produced when the body digests protein. Too much homocysteine in the blood is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases such as stroke and heart disease. Homocysteine levels can be controlled through a diet rich in whole grains, fruits and vegetables.
