Aging in place is the concept of modifying a home to optimize it for aging. By making small modifications, a senior can live independently in his or her own home longer. If you have made any modifications that help with aging and improved a home, share them here.

Another cause of falls

I believe one of the causes for falls among elderly has been overlooked. It is the bifocal eyeglasses. When a person wears bifocals and looks down to see as he/she walks, he uses the lower part of the bifocal -- the part meant for reading -- and the distance to the floor in front of him may be out of focus. As a result, obstacles in his path may be blurry or not seen at all.
