L-carnitine is a substance produced in your body. As you age, the amount in your blood decreases. Supplements of L-carnitine have been shown to improve quality of life in the very old. Research subjects who took L-carnitine improved in muscle mass, mental function and energy levels while decreasing in fat and fatigue.
