Definition: a cultural habit, practiced on the island of Okinawa, of eating until you are only 80 percent full. Okinawans live longer and healthier than any other people on earth. One reason for their longevity is that they eat fewer calories than the average person. This calorie restriction, combined with plenty of fruits and vegetables results in less damage by free radicals.
