Definition:

This type of high blood pressure is rare but very serious. Blood pressure levels can rise very quickly. There is a danger of stroke and usually the person has severe symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or even seizures. This type of high blood pressure calls for immediate hospitalization. The term 'malignant' is used because there is sudden damage to the brain, heart, eyes or kidney caused by the high blood pressure.
