excercise LESS

you have only so many heartbeats.... so pretty much just limit your heartbeats.... do not stress, workout less (while eating properly: paleo)....eat less, because less energy in equals less out(less heartbeats) , sleep more... eat more fat and protein and less sugar and complex sugars, because fat and protein are easier to digest (less energy wasted). Overexercise (especially running long distances) is detrimental to one's health. Keep warm, because when your cold your metabolism goes up alot... so pretty much just strategically be lazy and comfortable and you'll live longer

Glorification of Youth is Illogical

The cultural push of glorifying youth is rediculously illogical. In some, there is the tendency to denigrade older age, but EVERYONE WANTS TO LIVE LONGER! In many Asian cultures, age is respected as an achievement, a badge that one has gone through many of life's struggles and has come out victoriously, a demonstration of one's accumulation of wisdom gained from the creative solutions to life's normal issues. Age is only a number, a value often held by the shallow ones. In the spiritual realm, no one ages. The real essence of a person grows in wisdom through the years. It is important that we assist our youth to have this consciousness. The value attached to being young is illogical and unrealistic, often resulting in the unfair regard and treatment of those older in chronological age. And yet, we all aspire to live longer. To reach ninety or a hundred is a hidden dream of many. We need to be more authentic and real in regard to valuing age. Georgette Beltran

Brain exercises/tips

1.) Seeing another's person's side of a story/life, instead of just your own viewpoint. 2.) Physical exercise to reach that mental, "sweet spot" or runner's high. 3.) More times than not, recalling names, places, things etc., simple as running the alphabet through one's mind.

VEGETABLES, LIMIT MEAT, EXERCISE

I agree with lots of vegetables that contain antioxidents, vitamins, minerals -- and fruits which also contain what we need. God knew what He was doing. Limit meat -- it tastes good but not that good for the body and I never eat pork. Chicken only with the right labels of no caged birds or hormones. The curing of red meat is done with some seriously bad chemicals. Exercise, exercise!!!! I am a nurse and I see what no exercise results in all the time. Working and keeping goals really does a lot in keeping one healthy and active. And loving others! Loving and helping others keeps one much healthier and the most selfish people are those who are invalids at an early age. Oh, yes, I have two dogs!

100?

NOT. Most are from families with longevity on their side and credit is given to "living right?" If you've ever been around a 90 + year old person, you know what that intails...drools, depends, poor hygiene,walkers/canes, stubborn, all their conversations are about how old they are, how they want everything done their way and you should NEVER move anything to a new location. Piles of magazines from ordering because they've received an application in the mail. Your life is slowed down considerably while going anyplace with them because everything is centered around their age. Gets OLD, sorry for the pun, real fast. Me? 80 years old is plenty old enough.

Why I look so young

I have a picture of myself taken on my 55th birthday that would surprise a lot of people. I achieved this level of fitness and physical well being without living in a gym or starving myself to death. For me it all started with an honest look in the mirror, that was followed with an even simpler question: "Do you like what you see?" Needless to say the resounding one word reply was..NO.! OK, after establishing that. What kind of changes could I make to my life that would help me archive a better physical appearance, as developing a long term plan to keep myself fit and healthy going forward. Keeping in mind that I am from a blue collar background and needed a common sense type of approch that would appeal to the regular person in the street. If anyone is interested in how I did this please let me know. I do not except money. Thank you. Kevin Harvey englishmaninvegas@yahoo.com

Get a dog

I've read that those who live alone are destined for a shorter life span. So, for those of us who live alone, such as me, we need interaction with others, and I can't think of anyway better than to get a dog. He's a lively companion, someone always happy to see you, loves you unconditionally, gets you out of the house for exercise, and makes you laugh. Also, in response to "Gueststargazer", I agree. When you have a relationship with your Creator, you are never alone.
